A lost place

A still body of water reflects a hazy tree line under an overcast sky, a thin band of gold light caught low along the far shore. The palette stays close throughout, soft grays and muted earth tones, so the reflection reads almost as solid as the land above it, two versions of the same place folded together.
The source is a photograph Fisher took herself, though she can no longer say where or when. There is no provenance attached to it, no note, no memory that resolves into a location. The painting works from that gap rather than around it, a place that exists because it was photographed and painted, and nowhere else, caught permanently between being found and staying lost.
