Two feet rest at the edge of a bed, painted close and low, the linens rumpled beneath them. One foot sits flat, settled. The other hangs slightly off the edge, toes just short of the floor, poised in a way that reads less like rest than readiness. Nothing else in the frame moves. The whole of the painting's tension lives in that single, barely-lifted foot.
